Philippines-Australia Community Assistance Program (PACAP)
     
PCAP   PACAP is a five-year development project aimed at reducing poverty & improving the standards of living of poor communities through sustainable economic & social development. The Program’s objectives are to support community-initiated sustainable poverty alleviation programs and activities; and provide capability-building initiatives of the non-profit sector (primarily NGOs, and POs), and LGUs. PACAP is supporting about 865 small activities benefiting at least 250,000 poor people through partnership with more than 500 civil societies, non-profit organisations, primarily Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and People’s Organisations (POs). [ Top ]
 
Southern Philippines Irrigation Sector Project (SPISP)
     
The Asian Development Bank provided a loan to the Republic of the Philippines for the implementation of the Southern Philippines Irrigation Sector Project (SPISP) which is being implemented by the  National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Provincial Governments concerned.

The project constructs and improve small-to-medium scale irrigation systems, strengthen system operation and maintenance (O&M) through beneficiary participation, and capacity building of beneficiary associations and executing agencies (NIA and LGU); develops irrigation and drainage facilities covering some 19,109 ha for intensive cultivation of rice and other crops, and will benefit about 13,649 farm households, 46 percent of them have income below the poverty threshold; provides for management and control of degraded watershed, resettlement of populations displaced by reservoir impoundment, measures to control schistosomiasis, and development of indegenous people. [ Top ]

Farmers Empowerment Through Agricultural Technology And Information (FEATI)) 
     
The Farmers Empowerment through Agricultural Technology and Information (FEATI) Project is aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and farmers' incomes in selected districts in Indonesia. This would be achieved by empowering smallholders to drive the agricultural services agenda and improve their access to technical and market information by improving the delivery of research and extension services and promoting technology/farmers/agribusiness partnerships.

The project emphasizes three key themes: improving the investment climate for growth, making service delivery responsive to the poor, and investing in good governance. Project components include: (i) support to agricultural/forestry extension services; (ii) support to agricultural research and development; (iii) support to Rural Producer Organizations and (iv) funding the promotion of public-private partnerships.  [ Top ]

Support to Agrarian Reform Communities in Central Mindanao (STARCM) 
     
STARCM  
STARCM was designed as a poverty alleviation vehicle for Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) through the provision or rehabilitation of critical support infrastructure (e.g. roads, bridges, community water systems and welfare as well post-harvest facilities), conduct of trainings to facilitate ARC planning and development and improving access of ARC residents to financial services provided by government and private financial institutions. Bago River Irrigation Systems Rehabilatations and Improvement Project (BRISRIP) 
     

The project involves rehabilitation and improvement of the existing Bago River Irrigation System (BRIS) in Negros Occidental to promote agricultural development and improve income level of beneficiaries.

The Bago River Irrigation System is serving 12,700 hectares of farmlands in Bago, La Carlota, Bacolod, Murcia, Pulupandan, San Enrique and Valladolid. The project aims to expand the BRIS coverage to 13,277 hectares of farmlands with some 5,301 farmers expected to benefit from it.

The project has six components namely: system rehabilitation and improvement, improved water management, irrigators’ association development, institutional development, watershed management, and consulting services.  [ Top ]

Philippines-Australia Port Security and Capacity Building Project (PAPSCBP) 
     
PAPSCBP   The project aims to strengthen port security in the Philippines. Through this project, Australia will work in partnership with the Philippines to develop a national strategic framework for port security aimed at reducing security risks from terrorism incidents in port facilities. The project is now providing/managing various training and capacity building activities for the port authorities to develop and implement port security plans.  [ Top ]
 
Training Course on Project Management & Project Operational Overisght For DENR-LAMP II 
     

A three-component training funded by the Philippines-Australia Human Resource Development Facility (PAHRDF) for  key officers and managers of the Land Administration and Mangement Project II (LAMP 11) for the effective and efficient  project management for ODA projects.  The Project Management  customised study program  was designed and developed in such a way that will  inculcate in the  participants  the ownership and enthusiasm  needed to  successfully  implement LAMP II.  [ Top ]

Diversified Farm Income and Market Development Project (DFIMDP) 
     

DFIMDP

  Hassall and Associates International (HAI) and Sustainable Development Solutions (SDS) were subcontracted by the Department of Agriculture (DA) to provide technical assistance for the preparation of a project proposal for the reorientation of the DA and its programs in response to policy directions under the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997.  It is envisioned that the project preparation work will lead to the approval of financial assistance from the World Bank in the form of a Sector Investment and Maintenance (SIM) Loan that would start implementation by 2004. The project has two components, namely: (i) Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building (ISCD) component, which focuses on institutional development and capacity building of DA central office units so that agency performance with respect to the core functions under AFMA is enhanced; and the (ii) Agriculture and Market Development Component, which involves the packaging of investments for supporting local market-oriented business development through the Regional Field Units (RFU) of the DA.  [ Top ]
 
Land Administration and Management Program (LAMP) 
     

AusAID has commissioned this Feasibility and Design (FAD) Mission in response to the formal request of the Government of the Philippines (GOP) for technical assistance from Australia to support the first phase of a long-term Land Administration and Management (LAM) Program. The Program is consistent with the GOP Medium Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP) and is spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). It responds to a critical development problem caused by a lack of efficiency and equity in the land market. The FAD mission has two primary objectives: (i) thoroughly examine relevant AusAID reports and the WB/GOP LAM project background and design documentation, and have discussions with key stakeholders to confirm the feasibility and nature of AusAID co-finance assistance; and (ii) prepare a Project Description Document (PDD) and associated documentation, compliant with AusAID’s approval and tendering requirements.  [ Top ]

Irrigation Systems Improvement Project Phase II (ISIP-II) 
ISIP   This project aimed to reduce poverty in Leyte Province by increasing farm production in about 12,000 households. The Project included components for institutional strengthening and training, infrastructural improvements, operation and maintenance, sociology and environment, and agricultural development. The project improved irrigation facilities in about 12, 649 hectares (ha) of existing service area, extended facilities to an additional 809 ha, and introduced a more efficient irrigation method. The Project also improved rural roads to extend access to markets and undertook beneficiary organization and training that enabled groups to undertake higher levels of participation in fulfilling implementation and operation and maintenance responsibilities.  [ Top ]
 
Strategic Development Plan and Investment Program for Bukidnon (SDPIP) 
This activity formulated the Strategic Development Plan and Investment Program (SDPIP) for the 10 municipalities in Southern Bukidnon. SDPIP defined the development direction for Southern Bukidnon which was consistent with the regional and provincial physical framework plans and development plans.  The plan has been named a Strategic Development Plan and Investment Program to correctly reflects its proposed content. In the hierarchy of land use and socio-economic development plans in the Philippines, it lies in between the Provincial Physical Framework Plan / Provincial Development Plan and the Municipal Comprehensive Land Use Plan / Municipal Development Plan. When adopted, the SDPIP will have an impact on the subsequent Annual Investment Plans of both the Province and the Municipalities.  [ Top ]   SDPIP
 
Irrigation Systems Improvement Project Phase II (ISIP-II) 
     
ISIP2   The project improved the health of communities in the provinces of Surigao del Norte, South Cotabato, Kalinga, Apayao, Guimaras and Palawan. This health improvement was accompanied by the implementation and participation of communities within health related initiatives. Additionally, the project improved the health of communities in Surigao del North and South Cotabato though the institutional strengthening of Local Government Units to deliver government health services.  [ Top ]
